Gabriel Anthony (Tony) Doheny
Australian born Tony Doheny has a long career in teaching and performing both in the USA and Australia. He has a doctorate in music from Stanford University in California. During his years in the United States he was Head of Strings at the Yehudi Menuhin Program in California. From 1975 to 1988 he was Senior Lecturer in Violin at the Queensland Conservatorium.
In 1988 Tony entered the Conventual Franciscan religious order. As a friar and now priest (Fr. Gabriel) he has taught at the Sydney Conservatorium and the University of Melbourne. As well as his priestly ministry he teaches violin and viola at Monash University in Melbourne and performs annually in the United States, with recent performances in San Francisco and New York. He is equally at home on the violin, viola and piano.
