Ryszard Pusz
Ryszard Pusz has had over fifty pieces written for him by composers here and overseas and has appeared as soloist and conductor with orchestras and major percussion ensembles throughout Australian and Europe.
Ryszard Pusz, Head of Percussion at the School of Music, Adelaide Institute of TAFE, is a renowned percussionist, and widely acknowledged as Australia's marimba master. He is listed in the International Who's Who of Music (11th Ed.) and the Who's Who in Australasia and the Far East (1st Ed.) as well as being the recipient of Sounds Australian awards and an Australia Council Fellowship. In 1993 he was the Music Director of the Come Out festival.
He has had over fifty pieces written for him by composers here and overseas and has appeared as soloist and conductor with orchestras and major percussion ensembles in Hungary, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, USA and Australia and with the Australian Dance Theatre, the Adelaide Chamber Singers, Corinthian Singers of Adelaide and the Three Legends of KRA.
He has developed some unique playing techniques, especially on marimba, including a one-handed tremolo technique.
He has written a beginning percussion tutor Percussion: A Comprehensive Approach, and a technical practice tutor Time and Again, and is currently working on a video of percussion. He has recently formed percusSON, a double father-son percussion quartet, with his son Aleksander, and Dennis and Evan Johnson.
