Linda Thompson

Linda Thompson won many prestigious competitions including the Herald Sun Aria in 1990, and subsequently studied in London, Germany, Italy and Holland. She was a member of the Young Artists Programs of both the Victoria State Opera and The Australian Opera and has performed many major roles.

Linda Thompson won many prestigious competitions including the Herald Sun Aria in 1990, and subsequently studied in London, Germany, Italy and Holland. She was a member of the Young Artists Programs of both the Victoria State Opera and The Australian Opera and performed many major roles including Fiordiligi, Donna Anna, Donna Elvira, Countess, First Lady (Mozart), Marzelline (Beethoven), Helena (A Midsummer Nights Dream), Governess (Turn of the Screw) (Britten) and the leading female roles in two world premieres of Australian operas at the Sydney Opera House - Richard Meale's Mer de Glace and Larry Sitsky's The Golem.

Linda currently teaches voice at the Faculty of Music, University of Melbourne and the Victorian College of the Arts. She is based in Melbourne, and combines performing and teaching with her family and children.
