George Polyhronakos
Born in Melbourne but now living in Athens, jazz drummer George Polyhronakos works and records with important improvisers in Greece such as Dimitris Vasilakis, George Kontrafouris, Takis Barberis and many others.
Drummer born in Melbourne, Australia (1964) & studied at The Victorian College of the Arts (Jazz Department). Honored with the Gwen Nisbett award for outstanding musical talent (1988), worked and recorded with important improvisers of the Melbourne scene and visiting artists such as: Tony Gould, Graeme Lyall, Lisa Young, Ben Robertson (Australia), John Hoffman (USA), Peter Leitch (Canada), Rudolf Josel (Austria) and many others.
George has been living in Athens, Greece since 1992 where he continues along the same lines with Greek jazz musicians such as Dimitris Vasilakis, George Kontrafouris, Takis Barberis and many others.
‘Blink’ is his first personal CD with his own music performed by 11 Greek improvisers in many combinations.
